Dan Davis
Director / Leader for Technical

Dan Davis, Director for TechnicalDan has had a successful career as a practicing engineer, as an entrepreneur and manager and as an analyst and mover of public policy in a diverse array of settings. He began his career with Exxon Refining Baton Rouge where he was responsible for design, construction and supervision of multi-million dollar projects. He moved on first to Engineering Department Head and later to Production Coordinator for Exxon’s Billings Montana and Benicia California refineries. Tauber Oil Company of Houston recruited Dan away from Exxon in 1975 to become Executive Vice President for their 300,000 BPD oil trading company. After six years with Tauber he became President of A Johnson Petroleum Company which purchased and sold refinery products to supply East Coast retail operations.

In 1985 Dan formed his own business – Davis and Associates – and performed engineering design, construction, environmental remediation and product quality projects for over 15 years before retiring to a life of community service.

Since retirement, Dan has: served as Director and VP for Montgomery County Municipal Water District #8 (2004 to present); co-founded and served as a board member of the Lake Conroe Communities Network (2007 to present); 2004 co-founder and leader of the Walden Emergency Response Management Team (WEMAT), the Community Emergency Rescue Team (CERT) and served as Incident Command Leader of WEMAT (2004-2011); Advisor to the Judge of Montgomery County since 2006 on water resource development issues, including the SJRA Groundwater Reduction Plan (GRP); Active participant (2004 to present) in the development of alternative water sources and plans to meet the LSGCD’s 30% groundwater reduction mandate; 2004 through 2012 developed scope, raised funds across community for first study (by TAMU) of the economic impacts of variable Lake Conroe water levels brought on now by weather and in the future by implementation of the SJRA surface water framework for its Groundwater Reduction Plan (GRP); Development (2009-2011) and co-author of “Lone Star Water Smart”, a study of water use, demand and conservation in Montgomery County over the period from 2011 to 2070.

Dan received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He was an NDEA Fellow at Auburn where he received his MS in Mechanical Engin¬eering completed all of his coursework, qualifiers and research for a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
